Iris Savastano, Forza Italia's city secretary and a Naples city councillor, has called on Mayor Gaetano Manfredi to provide answers on basic urban services, from waste collection to tree maintenance and links between central and outlying districts.

The appeal, reported by Metropolis Web on 27 October 2026, focuses on three issues: waste collection, care of urban greenery, and connections between the centre and the peripheral neighbourhoods.

Waste collection and the Ecosistema Urbano figures

According to the report, Savastano cited Naples' placement in Legambiente's Ecosistema Urbano 2026, which puts Naples 106th out of 106 provincial capitals examined, with a score of 30.80 points out of 100.

The same report gives Naples a separate-waste-collection rate of 47%, compared with an average of 66.15% among the cities examined.

Savastano alleges that separate waste collection had not yet begun in Piscinola, Marianella and Scampia, while among the areas she named it had started only in Chiaiano. That coverage claim is presented in the source article as her allegation; independent verification by neighbourhood was not reported.

She asked the Municipality of Naples and ASIA, the city waste company, for precise dates for extension of the service to households not yet covered, along with adequate vehicles and staff.

Trees: maintenance alongside planting

On urban greenery, Savastano called for funding for maintenance to accompany new planting. The measures she named include irrigation, inspections, correct pruning and replacement of trees that fail to take root.

Transport between periphery and centre

On public transport, Savastano argued that reliable links between outlying areas and the city centre are needed to reduce reliance on private cars.

The source article does not report a response from Mayor Manfredi, the Municipality of Naples or ASIA.
