Castellammare di Stabia has named the four recipients of the 2026 Michele Cavaliere Prize, now in its eighth edition.
The awards were assigned to Aldo Policastro, don Michele Di Martino, Vincenzo Iurillo and Major Giuseppe De Lisa, according to the local report published by Metropolis Web.
The four 2026 recipients
Aldo Policastro is identified as the prosecutor general at the Court of Appeal of Naples.
Don Michele Di Martino is recognized for his pastoral and social commitment.
Vincenzo Iurillo, an investigative journalist, was awarded in the “Informazione” category.
Major Giuseppe De Lisa leads the Carabinieri Company of Castellammare di Stabia.
The available sources do not specify whether the other three awards carry distinct official category titles in addition to the “Informazione” category assigned to Iurillo.
Why Iurillo was selected
Coverage of the jury decision says Iurillo was chosen for “il rigore e la continuità” — the rigor and continuity — of his work covering criminal activity and issues of legality in the area.
That work includes his reporting on the so-called Sistema Sorrento case, cited in national coverage of his selection.
An award established in 2019
The Michele Cavaliere Prize was established in 2019 by the Circolo intercomunale della Legalità and SOS Impresa – Rete per la Legalità APS.
It recognizes people who stand out in the fight against the camorra, racket, usury and corruption.
The prize is named for Michele Cavaliere, an entrepreneur killed in 1996 after opposing the camorra and refusing to pay the pizzo.
Ceremony expected in late November
The award ceremony is expected to take place at the end of November in Castellammare di Stabia.
The precise date and specific venue have not been indicated in the sources acquired so far.
