The historic park of Villa Vannucchi in San Giorgio a Cremano has a new LED lighting and video-surveillance system designed to make the site usable after dark.

The intervention was inaugurated on 6 October 2026. It was financed with €900,000 by the Metropolitan City of Naples and carried out with the Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio.

What changed

The works introduced a comprehensive lighting system across the park, along with cameras intended to improve evening safety.

Reports describe more than 400 lighting units in total. The detailed breakdown specifies 415 LED lamps, with 57 lights around the central fountain and 40 pathway markers.

Eighteen surveillance cameras were installed along the park perimeter and internal paths.

The exact counting method behind the headline figure of 400 lights and the detailed count of 415 lamps plus fountain lighting and pathway markers is not fully explained in the available reports.

A park made for evening use

The intervention is intended to support evening use and cultural activities and to assist the cultural valorisation of the historic site.

The park covers approximately 43,000 square metres and is organized around sixteen radial avenues. The new lighting and surveillance system is meant to allow visitors to enjoy that large green space safely after sunset.

What visitors should know

The available reports do not establish regular opening hours, visitor-access rules, or whether the entire park is currently open every evening.

Visitors planning an evening visit should therefore check current access information with the Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano before going. No official project document or municipal page was available in the research to independently verify the technical specifications or final completion status.
