A cornetteria on Via Amerigo Vespucci in Naples has been closed after an inspection found undeclared workers, workplace-safety violations and poor hygiene conditions, according to a report by Metropolis Web.

The inspection was carried out by Carabinieri from the Naples Group, supported by the Labour Inspectorate and the Carabinieri health unit NAS.

Of the 13 workers present at the time of the check, five were allegedly employed without regular contracts. Inspectors issued five administrative violations for undeclared work, with maximum penalties totalling 19,500 euros, and ordered the suspension of the business.

The owner was also reported for alleged workplace-safety violations, including absent health surveillance for staff, insufficient worker training and deficiencies in the working environment.

NAS inspectors reported hygiene problems in the premises, including damp marks in storage areas, unsuitable waste containers and a refrigerator used for perishable food without a temperature gauge.

According to the report, total fines amounted to 27,000 euros, including nearly 5,000 euros for three criminal violations.

The name of the business was not identified in the report, which also did not specify the exact date of the inspection or how long the closure will remain in effect.
