A car caught fire on the A16 Napoli-Bari motorway near the Baiano exit on the afternoon of Monday, 19 October 2026, at around 5:20 p.m.
Firefighters from the Comando Provinciale of Avellino responded to the scene, extinguished the flames and secured the area.
Four people were travelling in the vehicle. According to the local reports, the passengers, who have hearing difficulties, were travelling from Sicily to Rome. None of the four occupants was injured, and no damage to other vehicles or property was reported.
Police officers and Autostrade personnel also attended to manage traffic and complete the required procedures at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not been reported, and the available accounts do not specify the car model or direction of travel.
