Anas has completed the reconstruction of the viaduct on the SS90bis "delle Puglie" at km 44,200 in Greci, in the province of Avellino, and restored the road to traffic on 23 September 2026. Local reporting put the reopening to traffic at 13:00, following a morning inauguration described by national press as taking place in the late morning.
The project required an investment of more than €5 million and involved the complete demolition of the previous structure and the construction of a new viaduct.
What was rebuilt
The new crossing has a deck of more than 50 metres made of Corten steel, according to Anas reporting carried by local and national press.
The works also included:
- lateral safety barriers
- expansion joints
- new road surfacing
- new horizontal and vertical signage
Before reopening, the new metal deck underwent a load test, which was completed successfully.
Why it matters for Irpinia-Puglia traffic
The reopening restores full traffic flow on the SS90bis at Greci, an important connection between inland Irpinia and neighbouring Puglia. The section links the Valle del Cervaro with the Miscano-Fortore area.
Monitoring and weighing system announced
Anas also announced two further measures for the structure: a structural monitoring system and a dynamic weighing system to measure the mass of heavy vehicles using the route. The sources do not specify installation dates or technical specifications for those systems.
What is confirmed is that demolition and reconstruction are complete, the new Corten-steel deck is in place, and traffic over the viaduct at km 44,200 resumed on 23 September 2026.
