Police in Cervinara arrested a man identified in the local report as G. T. at around 4 a.m. for an alleged violation of a precautionary order prohibiting him from approaching a protected person.
Following the arrest, the man was initially placed under house arrest at his home pending the validation hearing.
According to the report, the case follows an earlier proceeding in which the man was acquitted of extortion but found responsible for stalking.
At the validation hearing before the court in Avellino, the prosecution requested confirmation of house arrest with an electronic bracelet. The judge did not grant that request and instead ordered release subject only to an obligation to report to the judicial police.
The current measure concerns the alleged breach of the approach ban and does not by itself change the outcome of the earlier proceeding. The exact conduct said to have breached the order was not detailed in the available report.
The presumption of innocence remains in force until any final finding of responsibility.
