Two people were arrested in Calitri after an alleged scam targeting an elderly resident, in which a woman posed as a Carabiniere to enter his home.

According to Irpinianews, the operation followed reports of attempted scams received by the emergency number 112 in Calitri. Carabinieri stopped a 34-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, both residents of Caserta province, in a car in the town.

The report says the woman entered the home of a resident over 80 years old while pretending to be a Carabiniere and claiming there was a serious family emergency. The victim allegedly handed over money before recognising the deception. When he tried to stop the woman, she allegedly used kicks and pushes to escape.

Carabinieri reportedly recovered €900, which the article says was returned to the victim. A search of the vehicle reportedly found 1.2 grams of cocaine divided into four doses, as well as the phones and vehicle allegedly used in the incident.

The two people were reportedly arrested in flagrante on allegations of improper robbery, fraud and possession of drugs for dealing, then taken to Bellizzi Irpino prison on the orders of the judicial authority.

The report says further investigations were continuing to identify possible accomplices and to establish whether the suspects were involved in similar incidents. The account describes arrests and allegations, not a final judicial finding of guilt.
