Carabinieri of the Baiano Radiomobile Unit have reported a 50-year-old man to the competent judicial authority after finding that the electronic identity card he was carrying had no microchip.
The discovery was made during a check in the Baiano area. According to IrpiniaNews, officers found that the microchip had been removed from the card, leaving the document unable to be read electronically for personal and biometric data.
The man was reported for alleged material forgery, known in Italian law as "falsità materiale". The altered card was seized.
