A collision between a Fiat Punto and a Jeep was reported at the intersection of Via Matteotti and Via Gueglia, along Viale della Repubblica in Capaccio Paestum.

According to Il Mattino, the Jeep was carrying a mother and her 11-year-old son, who were travelling to school at the time. After the impact, the Jeep ended up in the roadside consortial canal.

The mother and child were treated at the scene and then transported to San Luca Hospital in Vallo della Lucania for medical checks. They were reported not to be in danger of death, while the child suffered a strong state of shock.

The driver of the Fiat Punto, described as a local young man, was uninjured.

Carabinieri from the Agropoli Company carried out the initial investigations. Failure to respect the stop sign was among the hypotheses being examined, but the exact dynamics of the collision and any responsibility had not yet been established.

The report did not name those involved, and it included no further update on the mother and child's condition after the hospital examinations.
