A young American tourist was seriously injured after jumping from the bridge carrying the SS163 road over the Fiordo di Furore.
According to Il Mattino, the impact with the water caused a serious spinal injury. Emergency responders immobilized the tourist on a spinal stretcher before he was transported by air ambulance to Ruggi Hospital in Salerno.
Carabinieri and the Furore municipal police temporarily closed the road to traffic to allow rescue operations to take place.
