The kindergarten "San Giuseppe Artigiano" in Pagani was temporarily closed for two days as a precautionary hygiene measure after reports of a rodent and gnawed food inside the school building.
The closure was ordered by Pagani's extraordinary commission, which suspended teaching activities to protect health and safety while the situation was assessed.
According to the reports, staff found food that appeared to have been gnawed. A subsequent inspection found additional gnaw marks in one room and gaps around some entrance doors, identified as possible entry points for rodents.
Authorities ordered a deratization intervention, with devices placed outside the building and in existing bait stations, followed by further checks. Reopening was made conditional on documented verification that sanitary and safety conditions had been restored.
The closure was precautionary and limited to the "San Giuseppe Artigiano" preschool. No original municipal order with a formal number and date was available, and the subsequent reopening of the school has not been independently verified.
