A car went off the road in Positano during the night of Halloween and was found at dawn balanced outside the roadway, held only by the roadside railing above a drop of several dozen metres. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, survived almost uninjured.
The vehicle left the road along the road serving the Montepertuso hamlet and struck the parapet. The iron railing held, preventing the car from falling into the ravine below and leaving it suspended outside the viaduct.
Carabinieri, municipal police and firefighters attended the scene. Firefighters recovered the vehicle, and the road reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation.
