Six people have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of an armoured van delivering tobacco products in Naples, according to reporting by Il Mattino. One of the suspects was under 18 at the time of the offence.

The robbery took place on 1 July, shortly before 9 a.m., along the route between Piazza Marianella and Via Ruggiero Moscati. The robbers allegedly used a firearm and took thirty cases containing tobacco products.

According to the reported precautionary measures, three adult suspects were taken to prison, two others were placed under house arrest, and the suspect who was a minor at the time was transferred to a juvenile detention facility.

Investigators believe the robbery relied on detailed knowledge of the vehicle, including its cargo, route, destination, and opening code. An unidentified insider is suspected of providing that information, but had not been identified at the time of publication.

Investigators reportedly identified suspects using security-camera footage from inside the vehicle and from nearby streets.

These are precautionary measures and investigative allegations, not final convictions.
