The sea at Punta Sant'Elia in Sant'Agnello is swimmable again after new laboratory tests by Arpac found seawater quality back within legal parameters for fecal bacteria and pollutants.
The new samples were collected on the previous Wednesday. Their results allowed the mayor to revoke the bathing prohibition issued on 7 September.
The measure had covered the stretch between Punta Sant'Elia and Cala Cerva, in the Colli di Fontanelle area facing the Amalfi Coast.
The earlier ban followed Arpac testing that found Escherichia coli above the legal limit at Colli di Fontanelle, also known as Punta Sant'Elia. Dense white foam was also observed during that earlier monitoring.
That prohibition extended over 2,372 metres of predominantly rocky coastline. With the latest tests within limits, the restriction on that stretch has been lifted.
