Police in Pompei have arrested a man accused of threats, assaults and stalking against his former partner, following a complaint filed by the woman.
According to Il Mattino Napoli, officers executed a pre-trial detention order in prison issued by the investigating judge in Torre Annunziata at the request of the local prosecution service. The man is under investigation for alleged abuse, aggravated stalking, aggravated personal injuries, illicit dissemination of sexually explicit images or videos, fraudulent recordings and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
The investigation began after the woman filed her complaint. It included witness statements, medical documentation and analysis of telephone and online communications, according to the report.
Investigators allege that after the relationship ended, the man pursued his former partner through phone calls, messages, social-media contacts and surveillance.
The report alleges that on 23 March, the man assaulted the woman and her mother with kicks and punches at a home where he and the former partner had previously lived together. He allegedly then took the woman's mobile phone, locked the door and prevented both women from leaving for about 45 minutes.
After the required formalities, the suspect was taken to Salerno-Fuorni prison. The article states that he had two prior convictions for persecutory conduct toward the same former partner.
The suspect's identity and age were not stated in the report. The accusations and the precautionary detention measure described do not amount to a final conviction.
