Daytime traffic has returned to normal on the access ramp to the San Marco viaduct along State Road 145, the "Sorrentina," at Castellammare di Stabia.
The alternating one-way system, introduced on 19 October 2026, was removed late in the evening of 29 October 2026, ahead of the originally planned end date. According to the reported update, the technically most complex phase of the works was completed, with crews working around the clock to shorten the disruption.
The site covers the access ramp and junction of the San Marco viaduct. The work involves replacing the expansion joints and forms part of a wider viaduct maintenance programme reported at more than 900,000 euros. Before the works began, the alternating one-way had been expected to remain in place until the end of the year.
What happens next
Remaining work will continue at night only. Drivers may still encounter an alternating one-way system or occasional closures between 22:00 and 06:00.
Anas has not yet published the detailed calendar for these night-time operations, and no final completion date for all remaining work has been indicated. Drivers using the Sorrentina, especially toward Castellammare di Stabia and the Sorrento peninsula, should check for night-time traffic notices before travelling late in the evening or overnight.
