Local police in Afragola seized about ten mini motorcycles and mini-quads after finding children riding them through crowded streets in the historic centre during weekend traffic checks.
According to Il Mattino, the riders were aged approximately 10 to 13 and were using combustion-engine minimotos and mini-quads on public roads. Officers said the vehicles had no plates, homologation or insurance, and that some had apparently been modified to increase speed.
Police reported dangerous riding, including high speed, riding the wrong way on one-way streets and riding on pavements.
Around 15 parents were reported to social services for alleged inadequate supervision.
The minimoto seizures were part of wider controls in the city centre. Police issued approximately 60,000 euros in fines in under 48 hours, including sanctions for missing helmets, insurance, registration documents, plates and driving licences.
