Carabinieri and officials from the Campania Region have inspected and seized a limestone quarry in Casamarciano covering approximately 260,000 square metres.
According to the reported account, extraction activity at the site was continuing despite an anti-mafia interdiction issued by the Prefecture of Avellino and the revocation of the site's environmental authorization by the municipality.
The operation involved Carabinieri from the Castello di Cisterna information unit and the Tufino station, together with personnel from the Region's mining office.
Authorities seized the quarry area and ten machines, including excavators and trucks used for extraction and transport. The company's extraction authorization was revoked.
The legal representative of the company managing the site was reported to judicial authorities in connection with the continued activity.
The company and its legal representative were not identified in the available report. The report describes a denunciation and administrative measures; it does not establish a final judicial finding of wrongdoing.
