A fire heavily damaged the former Vittoria bar on Via delle Repubbliche Marinare in San Giovanni a Teduccio during the night.

The blaze was reported at around 2 a.m. Firefighters intervened and worked to bring the flames under control, facing difficult conditions inside the disused premises.

The bar, formerly known as "Vittoria black & white," had been closed for several years following sanctions related to structural abuses.

During the initial inspection, firefighters found traces compatible with an ignition. Investigators are therefore considering deliberate arson as a preliminary hypothesis.

Much of the structure was blackened or reduced to ashes. The final technical assessment of the cause had not been completed, and no motive or perpetrator had been established. Investigations remain ongoing.
