Naples Capodichino and Salerno airports faced limited supplies of Jet A-1 fuel, prompting operator Gesac to ask airlines to refuel at their departure airports instead.

Gesac, which manages both Campania airports, reported the reduced availability and requested that Italy's air navigation service provider Enav issue a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). The notice invited pilots to carry enough fuel from their airports of origin to reduce the need for refuelling at Naples and Salerno.

The shortage was linked to demonstrations and roadblocks that obstructed access to fuel depots and the movement of refuelling vehicles.

Gesac also asked the Prefettura to intervene to guarantee the transit of supply vehicles and access to storage facilities, in order to avoid effects on airport operations and disruption to public service.

No details were available in the consulted report on the identification number, time of issue or validity period of the NOTAM, on the remaining fuel quantities, or on the number of flights affected. The report also did not document an end to the blockades or a return to normal supply.
