Citizens, associations, and relatives of road victims gathered on Corso Umberto I in Naples to remember Saray, a 20-year-old Spanish Erasmus student killed after being struck by an SUV.
The demonstration brought together residents, civic associations, representatives of Europa Verde, family members of road victims, and deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli. According to Il Mattino, the gathering was a response to concern about speeding, dangerous driving, and repeated fatal crashes in the city.
Borrelli said the only effective response was a 30 km/h speed limit throughout urban areas. He called for the limit to be backed by patrols, cameras, and speed cameras in order to reduce serious road deaths.
The proposal remains a political position put forward at the demonstration. There is no confirmed decision by Naples authorities to adopt a citywide 30 km/h limit.
