Carabinieri in Agerola found two mixed-breed dogs chained and in poor health, and reported the 52-year-old landowner on suspicion of animal mistreatment.
According to Il Mattino, officers from the Agerola station found the dogs tied with chains approximately one metre long. Neither dog was microchipped.
The dogs had mutilated ears, neck injuries caused by collar friction, wounds on their legs, and parasite-related dermatitis. Where they were being kept, officers found dirty water and mouldy meat scraps available.
The dogs were seized and transferred to a kennel in Pignataro Maggiore.
The report does not specify the exact date of the inspection or the precise location of the property in Agerola, and no further judicial outcome beyond the report is stated.
