A 22-year-old man was struck and killed on the SS7 Quater, known as the Via Domitiana, in the Varcaturo area of Giugliano in Campania after getting out of his car to warn approaching traffic about a crash.

According to Il Mattino, the incident involved four vehicles near kilometre 42+500. A Volkswagen Golf hit the guardrail for reasons still under investigation.

The Golf was occupied by two young men: a 22-year-old from San Cipriano d'Aversa and a 20-year-old from Casal di Principe. After the initial impact, both exited the vehicle to signal the crash to oncoming drivers.

While they were outside the car, a passing vehicle struck the 22-year-old. He died at the scene.

Carabinieri from the Giugliano mobile unit and the Varcaturo station responded to the scene. Investigations are continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The precise cause of the Golf leaving the roadway, the circumstances of the fatal impact, and whether any legal measures followed have not been reported.
