The Municipality of Sorrento and the Prefecture of Naples have signed a memorandum of understanding to prevent infiltration by organized crime.
The agreement was signed by Sorrento Mayor Corrado Fattorusso and Naples Prefect Michele Di Bari. It covers public contracts for works, services and supplies, as well as the building and urban planning sectors.
The understanding provides for closer cooperation between the Municipality and the Prefecture through a constant exchange of information.
Prefect Di Bari described the protocol as a tool to strengthen safeguards for legality.
Torre Annunziata Prosecutor Nunzio Fragliasso was also present at the signing.
The prefect linked the initiative to the earlier access commission and the judicial investigation into the so-called "sistema Sorrento."
