Carabinieri intervened during the night on Corso San Giovanni in Naples after a stolen car was found overturned in the middle of the road with an improvised explosive device inside.

The alert came through the 112 emergency number. Patrols from Napoli Poggioreale arrived at civic number 834, in San Giovanni a Teduccio, and found a Dacia Sandero lying on its side. No one was inside the vehicle.

What investigators found

Inside the car, investigators found an improvised explosive device made from approximately half a kilo of powder, along with fingerprints and blood traces.

Investigative carabinieri and bomb-disposal specialists from the Naples provincial command attended the scene.

Checks showed the Dacia had been reported stolen in 2025. The license plates fitted to it belonged to another vehicle that had been deleted from the Public Automobile Registry.

Investigation ongoing

At the time of publication, no injuries connected to the incident had been recorded at hospitals in the Naples province.

The source does not say who placed the device or what it was intended for, nor does it identify the persons associated with the fingerprints and blood traces. No arrests or suspects were reported, and the investigation was ongoing.
