Three residents of Ercolano have been reported to the judicial authorities after identity cards believed to be counterfeit were seized.

The irregularities came to light during a renewal attempt at the Ercolano registry office. Staff noticed anomalies in the documents presented, in particular an electronic chip that appeared slightly raised.

The purpose of the alleged counterfeiting has not yet been clarified. Investigators are considering, without treating it as established, a possible connection with an organized international network potentially linked to fraud.

The Naples Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a file, and investigations are ongoing. No verified details are available on the identities of the three people reported, the specific charges, or whether the suspected network exists.
