A night admission to the Pronto Soccorso of Naples' Vecchio Pellegrini hospital ended in violence, according to Il Mattino, after a patient who had reported nausea and vomiting allegedly struck a nurse and threatened him.

The incident occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday. Citing a reconstruction disseminated by the association Nessuno Tocchi Ippocrate, Il Mattino reports that the patient was initially placed on a chair-bed for treatment.

Dispute over an oxygen-connected bed

The dispute reportedly began when the patient demanded to be moved to a bed connected to oxygen. Staff told him that those limited beds had to remain available for seriously ill patients, including respiratory emergencies.

According to the report, the patient then slapped an infermiere and made death threats against the healthcare worker.

Nurse injured, man reported

The nurse sustained facial trauma and psychological shock, with a reported ten-day prognosis. Il Mattino reports that the man was reported to the authorities and also allegedly threatened police officers who intervened.

The association identified the episode as the 21st aggression it has recorded in 2026 within ASL Napoli 1 Centro. The available account relies substantially on the association's reconstruction; no independent police or hospital report was cited, and the patient's identity and any subsequent judicial outcome have not been established.
