A 48-year-old man was arrested in Casal di Principe after allegedly threatening and assaulting his wife at home and then attacking one of the Carabinieri who intervened, according to Il Mattino.
The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Casal di Principe Company responded to a home following a report of domestic violence.
According to the account reported, the man allegedly threatened his cohabiting wife with death inside their home and then struck her in the face with a slap.
The man allegedly tried to assault the woman again even after the Carabinieri arrived. While attempting to restrain him, one officer was reportedly assaulted and sustained injuries requiring medical treatment.
The 48-year-old was arrested on suspicion of mistreatment of family members and cohabitants and personal injury to a public official.
Il Mattino reports that the man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
