Carabinieri stopped a gold Mercedes Classe B during a road-traffic check in San Felice a Cancello on 31 October 2026 and arrested the driver after finding drugs hidden in the car.

The driver was a 51-year-old man from the Naples area, described in the reports as having previous convictions related to drug trafficking. Officers found a concealed compartment in the rear luggage area containing approximately 200 grams of cocaine and 100 grams of hashish, for a total of approximately 300 grams of seized drugs.

What officers found in the car

The search focused on the rear luggage area of the Mercedes Classe B, where officers identified a concealed compartment. Inside, according to the reports, were two separate quantities: about 200 grams of cocaine and about 100 grams of hashish.

During the personal search, officers also seized 1,415 euros found on the driver.

A 71-year-old man, also reported as being from the Naples area, was travelling in the car as a passenger. He was treated separately and was not subjected to restrictive measures.

Cash, notes and phones found in follow-up searches

Searches connected to the investigation found additional material beyond the drugs in the car: another 8,610 euros in cash, handwritten notes described as potentially related to illicit-activity accounting, and three smartphones.

Taken together, the reported cash seizure totaled 10,025 euros: 1,415 euros from the driver and 8,610 euros found in the connected searches.

What happens next

The 51-year-old was taken to Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison pending judicial proceedings.

The reports describe investigative findings and an arrest; they do not establish a final conviction or the ultimate judicial outcome. The sources do not give the arrested man's name, do not clarify the passenger's precise legal status beyond the absence of a restrictive measure, and do not independently establish the ownership or intended destination of the drugs.
