A major water-pipeline rupture in Maddaloni on 21 October 2026 sent a jet of water about 20 metres into the air and forced the suspension of train traffic between Maddaloni and Cancello as a safety precaution.

Regional services on the Caserta–Foggia route were affected, with delays and diversions reported. High-speed services were not reported as affected.

Emergency teams at the scene included the Carabinieri, the local municipal police, staff from the municipal technical office, and water-service technicians. The damaged pipeline was shut off, and its water pressure was reported to be falling.

Investigators were examining whether works carried out near a local water basin on the previous evening could be connected to the rupture. The exact technical cause had not yet been established.

The precise duration of the railway interruption and the timetable for restoring normal service were not stated. The full extent of any disruption to the local water supply was also not established.
