Heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding and traffic disruption across the province of Caserta, with serious problems reported in Capua, Aversa, Caserta, Carinaro, Cancello ed Arnone, Pignataro Maggiore, Bellona and Maddaloni.

The most severe transport impact came near Maddaloni. Close to the Rome–Naples railway line, ground failure caused a large water pipe to rupture, sending a column of water toward the railway infrastructure. Water on the tracks and the required safety checks caused major rail disruption, with effects reported toward Rome Termini, Rome Tiburtina and Napoli Centrale.

Roads were also hit. In Capua, the railway underpass on the provincial road toward Santa Maria la Fossa was flooded and closed for much of the day, forcing traffic onto alternative routes. Near Sant'Angelo in Formis, a vehicle became trapped after a landslip beside Mount Tifata. In Carinaro, water and sewage escaped near an underpass after underground pipes overflowed under the pressure of runoff.

Emergency teams monitored the Volturno, along with waterways and flood-prone areas in Santa Maria la Fossa, Grazzanise, Cancello ed Arnone and Castel Volturno.

The exact date and duration of this episode, the precise duration of rail delays and restoration, and verified rainfall totals were not established in the available reports. Separate pipeline failures previously reported at Maddaloni have also caused high-pressure water discharges, road damage and traffic diversions, but the available material does not show they are the same event.
