For the first time, the parishes of the Vitulanese Forania will celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi together. On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the statues of the patron saints of the Valley communities will be carried in procession to the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata in Vitulano for a single shared Eucharistic celebration.
The communities taking part are Campoli del Monte Taburno, Tocco Caudio, Cautano, Vitulano, Castelpoto, Torrecuso, Paupisi and Foglianise.
Three processions, one destination
Three separate processions will converge on the Basilica:
- From Cacciano at 6:00 p.m., with the faithful from Campoli del Monte Taburno, Tocco Caudio and Cautano.
- From the Church of the Santissima Trinita in Vitulano at 5:30 p.m.
- From Piazza Santa Maria in Foglianise at 6:00 p.m., with the faithful from Castelpoto, Torrecuso, Paupisi and Foglianise.
The concluding Eucharistic celebration is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. inside the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata.
The theme: "Laudato si', mi' Signore"
The chosen theme is "Laudato si', mi' Signore" ("Praised be You, my Lord"), taken from the Canticle of the Creatures. The gathering is presented as a moment of fraternity, peace, faith and unity among the Valley communities.
The date carries added significance: 2026 marks 800 years since the death of St. Francis of Assisi in 1226, described in the local sources as his birth into Heaven.
What is known so far does not include the individual list of patron statues to be carried, nor practical details on parking, road closures or arrangements in case of bad weather.
