Former municipal director released from house arrest
Gennaro Santamaria, former director of the Municipality of Benevento, was released after Maria Amoruso revoked his house arrest following a request by the prosecution.
Santamaria had been arrested on 30 March in an investigation into alleged extortion involving a surveyor and had been under house arrest since 19 May.
Nineteen people are under investigation. Santamaria's statements are expected to be examined through an evidentiary hearing requested by prosecutors.
New monthly subscription for Zona B parking
Benevento introduced a monthly paid-parking subscription for selected areas of Zona B, costing 25 euros plus a 1.50 euro commission and valid for 30 days.
The subscription is available exclusively through the SpotPay app and applies only to spaces identified by dedicated signage, including locations on Via San Giovanni di Dio, Via XXV Luglio, Via Grimoaldo Re, Piazza Cardinal Pacca, Piazza Risorgimento and Via Pacevecchia.
Legality conference on the 1990s mafia massacres
The Questura of Benevento and the University of Sannio held a legality conference at the Sant'Agostino auditorium focused on the mafia massacres of the early 1990s.
The conference included Calogero Germanà, a retired senior police official who survived a 1992 mafia attack.
Students launch environmental initiative in Benevento
Students from IPSAR "Le Streghe" began an environmental-care initiative near Via Grimoaldo Re, involving waste collection, minor maintenance and environmental awareness activities with Plastic Free.
