The Democratic Party circle of Telese Terme has publicly expressed deep concern over recent dismissals at the GEPOS clinic and declared its solidarity with the workers involved. The statement calls on the company to clarify the reasons for the measures and to examine alternatives capable of protecting jobs and workers' rights.

The party also called for the involvement of the ASL of Benevento, the Campania Region, the Telese Terme municipal administration, the company and the trade unions in finding a shared solution.

Two laboratory technicians affected after more than 30 years

According to NTR24 reporting on union accounts, two GEPOS laboratory technicians were affected after more than 30 years of work. The unions reported that one dismissal letter had been delivered while the second worker was on leave.

The unions have requested checks on the organization of the laboratory. They reported that the laboratory performs more than 200,000 services per year, a figure attributed to union information and not independently verified in the sources reviewed.

FP CGIL and UIL FPL have announced a sit-in outside the GEPOS clinic in Telese Terme for 26 October, from 10:00 to 13:00.

A dispute that began months earlier

The recent dismissals follow a broader personnel-reduction procedure. Realtà Sannita reports that the procedure initially concerned about 16 workers, including nurses, a radiologist, laboratory technicians, administrative staff and support-service personnel.

Realtà Sannita links the dispute to a reported 2025 loss of approximately 3.68 million euros and an alleged staffing surplus. Those figures are reported by the local press and lack independently acquired company or institutional documentation.

Reported company proposals during the procedure included outsourcing some kitchen work, reducing laboratory technicians' hours from 36 to 20 per week, and the possible dismissal of a biologist. The unions opposed or questioned these solutions.

According to Lab TV, the unions also challenged the adequacy of the consultation process and requested further verification of laboratory workloads and staffing needs.

What remains unclear

Several key points are not established by the available sources. GEPOS's current position, the formal reasons for the dismissals and any company response to the unions' allegations have not been documented in the material reviewed.

The exact number of final dismissals, the legal status and final outcome of the collective-dismissal procedure, and the outcome of the announced 26 October sit-in are also not available in the acquired documents.

For residents and workers, the next public moment is the announced union sit-in outside the clinic in Telese Terme. Any further clarification is expected to come from the company, the ASL of Benevento, the Campania Region and the municipal administration, whose joint involvement the Telese Terme Democratic Party has requested.
