Airola will hold the award ceremony for the 13th writing course-competition dedicated to Don Peppe Diana on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at 18:00, in the Salone del Convento di San Pasquale in Airola.
The competition is organized by the San Pasquale Association and the Friars of the Convento di San Pasquale, with the patronage of the Municipality of Airola and the Franciscan Province of Sannio and Irpinia.
104 students from nine towns
The 2026 edition involved 104 lower-secondary students from Airola, Paolisi, Arpaia, Bucciano, Caivano, Forchia, Moiano, Montesarchio Uno and Cervinara.
Students wrote on the theme "L'Europa e la sua origine cristiana," with each participant free to choose the most suitable textual form.
The initiative promotes reflection on charity, solidarity, legality, creativity and civic commitment among younger generations.
Guests and evening programme
The ceremony programme includes contributions from Maria Diana, sister of Don Peppe Diana, and Mons. Giuseppe Mazzafaro, Bishop of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant'Agata de' Goti.
The evening is moderated by Prof. Ettore Ruggiero. Readings are by actor Peppe Barile, with music performed by students of Airola's A. Lombardi Musical Lyceum.
In memory of Don Peppe Diana
The competition commemorates Don Peppe Diana, who was killed by the Camorra on 19 March 1994 in Casal di Principe while preparing to celebrate Mass.
