Coast Guard personnel carried out checks on the fishing supply chain between Torre del Greco and San Giorgio a Cremano, in an operation coordinated by the Campania Maritime Directorate.

At the entrance to the port of Torre del Greco, officers recovered a gillnet of about 200 metres. According to the report, the net had been placed illegally and carried no identification signals. It was described as a hazard to navigation, particularly for recreational boaters. The net was empty when it was recovered.

The same operation extended to retail checks in San Giorgio a Cremano. Three commercial businesses were sanctioned for missing product labels and sales notices required for fish traceability.

The total administrative fines issued to the three businesses amounted to €6,000.

The report does not identify who placed the net, and no official Coast Guard bulletin confirming the operation was available.
