A citizens' committee in Torre Annunziata has issued a clarification after municipal employees objected to its public statements, saying it never accused town hall staff of Camorra membership and describing its remarks instead as pointed questions about poor services.

The group, "Commissari Siamo Noi", said it had not accused employees of the Comune di Torre Annunziata of belonging to or being connected with the Camorra. According to the reported statement, the committee spoke of "domande scomode" — uncomfortable questions — about responsibility for service failures, not allegations of criminal affiliation.

The committee said its civic work remains focused on the condition of streets and sidewalks, local interventions, and oversight in the area. It described its method as collecting residents' reports, submitting documented requests, and publishing the responses received from municipal offices.

The group also said it was willing to apologise and to meet with the RSU and trade unions to discuss organisational problems affecting services.

Union dispute and call for prefect's intervention

The clarification follows a union assembly held on 27 October 2026. After that meeting, Fp Cgil, Cisl Fp, Uil Fpl, Csa and the RSU declared a state of agitation among municipal employees and asked the Prefect to intervene.

The reported dispute concerns accessory pay, staff shortages, career progression, and working conditions. The unions have requested that the Prefect start the formal cooling-off and conciliation procedure for the dispute.

No outcome of that request, or of a possible meeting between the committee and the unions, has been confirmed in the material reviewed for this article.

What has not been independently verified

The original texts of the committee's note, union statements, or any communication from the special commission or the Prefecture were not available. Accounts of earlier social-media posts attributed to the committee come from press reports and were not checked directly against the original posts.

Similarly, the underlying complaints about salaries, staffing levels, promotions, and administrative procedures have not been independently verified.
