A dispute reportedly sparked by a request for a light ended in gunfire in the nightlife district of Torre del Greco on the night between Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13.
According to the investigative reconstruction reported by Metropolis Web, the argument began in Via Guglielmo Marconi after one of the people involved asked for a lighter. The verbal clash escalated when a group allegedly attacked the young man involved in the dispute.
During the assault, at least five pistol shots were fired at roughly human height, investigators report.
Bystander Hit by Stray Bullet
A 27-year-old passerby with no connection to the argument was struck in the right foot by a stray bullet. He was treated and discharged with a seven-day prognosis.
Investigators also say they identified the alleged intended target of the shooting, who was wounded in the groin.
Arrest and Charges
Carabinieri arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the episode. A precautionary measure against him was subsequently validated by the preliminary investigations judge.
During a search of his home, investigators reportedly found the clothing worn that night and a pistol with an abraded serial number.
The young man is accused of attempted murder aggravated by futile motives, carrying an illegal firearm, and receiving stolen goods. He remains presumed innocent until any final conviction.
The final judicial outcome is not yet known.
