Carabinieri in Naples stopped nine taxi drivers in the port disembarkation area and recorded six road-traffic violations, including one working taxi driver who had never held a driving license.
The checks were carried out in the Naples dock area by the Carabinieri of the Compagnia Napoli Centro and the Scali Marittimi station, according to local press reporting on the operation.
Among the cases found, one driver was regularly working as a taxi driver but had never obtained a license. A second driver was caught transporting tourists while operating an unlicensed taxi service.
In the unlicensed-taxi case, officers imposed a fine, suspended the driver's license, and seized the vehicle pending subsequent confiscation.
Officers also found another vehicle in circulation without the required periodic inspection.
The report does not identify the drivers, state the amounts of the fines, or give further details on possible criminal complaints or additional administrative measures.
