A high-voltage electricity pole caught fire in Via Fratte in Contrada on 13 October 2026, causing blackouts in parts of the town.

The outage affected private homes on Via Fratte and parts of the SR88, including the section from the roundabout to the municipal cemetery and nearby side streets.

Mayor Pasquale De Santis said no injuries or property damage had been reported. Enel technicians and the Avellino Fire Brigade were working on the fault.

The mayor cautiously suggested a possible energy overload as the cause, while noting that the cause remained unconfirmed. Repairs were expected to be completed by midnight, although restoration by that deadline has not been independently verified.
