A young man from Avellino, investigated as a minor for enlistment and training for terrorism-related purposes, including international terrorism, has been cleared after the case was archived for lack of factual basis.
According to IrpiniaNews, the investigating judge for preliminary investigations at the Juvenile Court of Naples ordered the archiving of the proceedings after forensic examination of the young man's devices.
The investigation concerned alleged participation in online groups connected to neo-Nazi, supremacist, or jihadist propaganda and violent content. As part of the inquiry, officers of the Naples DIGOS carried out a home and computer search under a mandate from the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Naples.
Analysis of the seized mobile phone and computer did not show that the young man had shared neo-Nazi, supremacist, or jihadist material. Following those findings, the juvenile public prosecutor requested that the case be archived because the alleged facts did not exist, and the investigating judge accepted the request, closing the matter.
