A wildfire broke out in the woods above Vecite, a hamlet of Maiori, on the evening of 23 September 2026, according to Il Mattino Salerno.
The fire developed on the hillside above a fuel station and spread along the slope, placing nearby homes, commercial businesses and the fuel station itself at risk.
Firefighters responded alongside municipal civil-protection volunteers. As a precaution, one home was reportedly evacuated.
Il Mattino links the episode to a wider series of fires affecting the Amalfi Coast, including a previous fire near Maiori's Castello di Toro Plano.
The cause of the Vecite fire, the extent of the burned area, and its containment status were not reported. There was also no confirmation of damage to the fuel station or surrounding businesses, nor of evacuations beyond the single reported home.
