A vehicle damaged the automatic barrier of the underground municipal car park in Piazza XX Settembre in Mercato San Severino, in the Salerno area, and left the site.
Surveillance cameras captured the vehicle after the barrier was destroyed, according to Il Mattino. The Polizia Locale used the surveillance images to identify the owner of the vehicle.
The owner had not contacted the municipal offices to report the damage, the report states.
Mayor Antonio Somma shared news of the identification on his institutional Facebook profile, publishing a photo showing the vehicle model. In the post, he wrote: "Chi rompe paga."
