Two minors riding an electric scooter on a cycle path were struck by a car that left the scene without providing assistance in the Laura area of Capaccio Paestum.
The incident occurred on 8 September at the intersection of viale della Repubblica and via Quistione II. According to the report, the vehicle involved was a dark-blue Volkswagen Polo, which hit the two minors and continued without stopping to help.
The injured minors were taken to the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno, where they received prognoses lasting several days. Their ages, identities, and detailed injuries were not disclosed.
Local police identified the vehicle through surveillance footage and witness statements. The car was later found parked inside a private property in the Torre di Mare area.
The driver and the vehicle's owner were reported to the judicial authorities for offences connected with fleeing the scene and failing to provide assistance. The case documents were sent to the Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office. The referral is an accusation at this stage, not a final court ruling.
