Bags containing sheep-shearing waste have been reported in a protected area on the boundary between Sarno and Castel San Giorgio, in the province of Salerno.

According to the report published by Il Mattino, the waste was described as special waste and was reported to contain a strong presence of ticks.

The account was provided by the guard unit of Accademia Kronos APS Salerno. The association said the matter had already been reported about one month earlier through a certified email sent together with an association from Castel San Giorgio.

The reported recipients included the Carabinieri Forestali and the mayor of the municipality.

Protected area and trail warning

The area is reported to lie within the protected perimeter of the Ente Parco regionale del fiume Sarno.

An alert was issued to people using the Cappella trail, particularly those walking with domestic animals, because of the reported presence of ticks.

What remains unclear is the exact location and quantity of the bags. The available report does not document an official inspection, an independently confirmed classification by the authorities, or completed removal, and no confirmed date for remediation has been provided.
