Two textile factories, one in Angri in the province of Salerno and one in San Giuseppe Vesuviano in the province of Naples, have been targeted by preventive seizure proceedings after investigators identified 102 workers at the two sites.
The operation was carried out by the Carabinieri Labour Protection Group of Naples. According to Il Mattino, the preventive seizure was ordered by the judge for preliminary investigations (GIP) of the court of Nocera Inferiore, at the request of the prosecutor's office.
Many of the 102 workers identified were allegedly employed without regular contracts, while some allegedly lacked a required residence permit.
The reported allegations include illicit labour intermediation and exploitation, the employment of workers without residence permits, and the deliberate omission of workplace safety precautions.
Investigators also described particularly demanding shifts, disproportionate pay, and serious health-and-safety violations at the facilities.
The measures reported are investigative and judicial steps, not final convictions. The available report does not specify how the 102 workers were divided between the two factories, nor does it identify the companies involved.
