An Audi A3 left the road on Via Guglielmo Marconi in Positano at about 5:45 on 1 November 2026, broke through the roadside railing and remained suspended between the roadway and the slope below. The driver got out of the vehicle and did not report serious injuries.
The incident occurred in the stretch between La Garitta and the Montepertuso junction, on or immediately alongside the SS163 Amalfitana. Rather than falling completely below the road, the car stopped in a suspended position above the slope.
Firefighters from the Maiori station secured the scene. An autocrane was used to recover the vehicle. During the operation, municipal police regulated alternating traffic, and traffic returned to normal around 9:30.
Carabinieri carried out checks to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the crash. According to the report, investigators were considering a possible sleep-related loss of control, while the alcohol test was reported as negative. The exact cause had not been established.
