Two people are under investigation following the death of a man in his seventies from Pagani who fell from the first floor of a care home in San Marzano sul Sarno, according to Il Mattino.
The individuals entered in the register of suspects are the facility's manager and a social-healthcare operator. The provisional allegation is negligent homicide, relating to possible negligence, incompetence, recklessness and inadequate supervision.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. The man was transported in red-code condition to the Umberto I hospital in Nocera Inferiore and later died after sustaining multiple fractures, head trauma and internal-organ injuries.
The public prosecutor's office in Nocera Inferiore ordered an autopsy to clarify the cause of death and to help reconstruct whether the fall was accidental or voluntary.
Carabinieri carried out initial inspections at the facility and questioned staff members and the victim's family. Investigators are also examining whether required care and supervision protocols were followed.
