A fire destroyed much of the roof of the Ocean Beach beach establishment in the Magazzeno area of Pontecagnano, in the province of Salerno.
According to Il Mattino Salerno, firefighters intervened around midday after flames broke out on the roof of the structure. The fire destroyed a large part of the building.
Fire crews worked with a fire engine and an aerial ladder to extinguish the flames. Once the fire was out, the area was made safe and technical checks began to establish the cause.
Ocean Beach is listed as a beach establishment in Pontecagnano Faiano, with its registered address at Via Mare Ionio 20.
The cause of the fire had not been determined at the time of the report. The available account does not provide details on possible injuries, the exact timing beyond "around midday," or which parts of the establishment, if any, remained usable after the fire.
